If a friend is in trouble, don’t annoy him by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it!
Hello Club Members!
It’s an exciting time to be a Pikemaster, as we have lots of activities coming up the next 4 months. This spring is shaping up to be a warm one, which means the grass is growing like weeds. I remembered that I didn’t follow Tom Reiter’s advice about adding some seafoam to the gas tanks. Ugh!! Why do I forget these things?? But my lawnmower didn’t fail me as she started right up on the first pull. I am so lucky, usually I’ll be adding starting fluid and taking the plug out- you guys all know the routine well.
On a great note- My beagle (Buddy) is recovering very well from his accident. It has been a month now and I am so thankful he is still with me. We sure do get attached to our pets!!
Ok, now down to business. May 20th, Riverfront Park, 2:00 p.m., we will have a fish fry/potluck. This is a event for the whole family, with some special games to be played afterward. I’m rounding up some nice prizes for this fun day!
Next, I’ll be getting a report from Heath Headly, biologist from Fort Peck on how well they did with the Northern spawn. Ciara, Nick, and I tag teamed with Jason, Tyler, and Brian Foster on a Monday while the kids had a day off from school. I know Don and Margaret Handeland were up there, along with Clayton Sorenson and Jeff frank. Sounds like the club was well represented and that is awesome!!
On April 24th, we had a committee meeting about kids fishing day. The turnout was small, but I was very impressed with Becky Heil and her organization of this event. She got some undeserved criticism from last year’s event, so she is really going all out to make sure this year’s event runs smoothly. You really need to show up to the committee meetings so your ideas can be presented. This event needs lots of volunteers. Becky will give us a run down of what’s going on for this June 2nd event.
Our club tournament is right around the corner too. I called a couple of tournament committee members and we decided that at this years tornament, we will have a raffle for lots of great prizes! Bob Dolly has gotten some donations, and we decided to get a big grand prize–an 870 Remington shotgun! Since all the prizes will be covered by donations, we might be able to clear some good money from our tournament. Any questions about the tournament, you can call Tom Reiter at 696-5640 or me at 860-7435. You should call Bill Hinrich at 485-2560 about rooms or camping areas. I do know Bill has gotten most of all his camping spots back from last years flood.
A club member called me the other day and gave me some great news- one that made me really smile-the kind that makes your day. Congratulations to James and Marianne Chidester as they are expecting their second child. It was the way James explained it to me: the newest member of our family to become a Pikemaster. WOW, thanks James, I am glad our club has been a positive influence for you and your family.
My oldest daughter Jen and her husband Jake have informed me that my 4th grandchild is on the way also! Another little Pikemaster to add to the club!
Happy Birthdays for the month of May go out to: Tanner Reiter, Margaret Handeland, Koli Wong, Bobby Rausch, Jennifer Marshall, and Jake Evans. And Guys–don’t forget about Mother’s Day on May 13th!!
Our meeting is on Thursday, May 3rd, at 7:00p.m. at the Elks. Please bring a friend along! If I don’t see you at the meeting, I hope to see you on the water!
