A note to teachers
Teachers sometimes feel a bit like a fish out of water when it comes to specialized, technical topics like fisheries biology. Or, they feel locked in by hard-and-fast rules regarding how they must teach a subject.
Missouri River Adopt-A-Fish seeks something of a middle ground when it comes to the subject.
There are no hard-and-fast rules here. You can do what you want. There is a package of curriculum Web pages that could be included in lesson plans that relate to the Missouri River below Fort Peck Dam. They cover a wide range of topics with information you can adapt to to specific grade levels and your particular students.
These range from fisheries biology and fish stocking to Lewis and Clark and Fort Peck Dam to information on how youngsters can learn how to go fishing themselves. Many of the pages have links to additional pages where students can learn more about these things. There are also Online tests that students can take and greade themselves. Activities pages in other parts of our Web site also cover Some fun stuff.
