Missouri River Adopt-A-Fish
A day with Lewis and Clark
I have a class of fourth graders and I used the Adopt-A-Fish site and the Lewis and Clark lesson as a writing project for my students.
I told them to pretend they were our adopted paddlefish, Petey, and have them follow Lewis and Clark for a day and write about what they saw the men doing as they went up the river. The stories were wonderful and it gave the students a chance to use their imaginations. We had stories of grizzly bears, rattlesnakes and burnt dinners. It was fun for the students to read to others what they wrote. -- Mrs. Brandt
