Gratitude to Mary AVE MARIA The name of the Children Relief Foundation -- AVE MARIA -- was chosen by Fr. Mariusz in gratitude to Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, for catching the Ice Fishing World Record Walleye while he was praying Divine Office in her words of praise and thanksgiving - "The Magnificat" (Luke 1:46-55) as he jigged in his ice house on the frozen waters of Tobin Lake in January, 2005. Lk 1:39-45: "And Mary rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste into a city of Juda. And she entered into the house of Zachary and saluted Elizabeth. And it came to pass that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. And she cried out with a loud voice and said: Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And whence is this to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold as soon as the voice of your salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed are you that has believed, because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to you by the Lord." Mary's Canticle - Lk 1, 46-55: And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me, holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers."
