AVE MARIA

Children Relief Foundation
of Father Walleye

The AVE MARIA Foundation is non-profit organization founded on Dec 8, 2005 by Canadian Catholic priest Fr. Mariusz Zajac -- "Father Walleye" -- of Carrot River, Saskatchewan. His first foundation, the Tsunami Fishermen Relief Fund, helped
purchase boats for Indian fishermen affected by the deadly tsunami
that hit Southeast Asia on Dec 26, 2004.

  • The goal of the Children Relief Foundation is to help orphans and the poorest children of the world affected by disasters, wars or famine, no matter what their religious beliefs might be.

Father Mariusz set up an account at his local Carrot River & District Credit Union to collect the donations. At the present time, he has made contact with Father Francis Guntipilly and Fr. Maria Joseph, two priests in India, who work with poor children there, to make sure the dollars raised would go directly toward educational skill programs, building facilities and other needs related directly to helping poor children.

The first donation was transferred even before the non-profit organization was founded. On November 21, 2005, our work began. We're hoping to do much more in the future.

Another goal is to help Fr. Maria Joseph, a Jesuit also in India, who is working with Dalit children. The goal there is also to provide education so these children, formerly known as and treated as "Untouchables", can better their lives.
