Greetings Pikemasters,

Our Leonard Lawver Memorial kids Fishing Day held on June 5th was one of the nicest days a person could ask for, both the temperatures and wind were tolerable. We had approximately 175 kids that had a great day of fishing and then filling their little bellies with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, pop and brownies for dessert. From my standpoint everything seemed to run smoothly and that’s because of the members and the Laurel Sr. High School Outdoor Club that took the time to help out. Thank you all very much.

In last month’s newsletter I made two mistakes on dates of our Pikemasters events. The first was the dates of our annual tournament at Fort Peck of which Tom Reiter got numerous calls to verify the correct date. Sorry Tom for the inconvenience this caused you. The other was the All -Club Fishing Day at Yellowtail Dam that was supposed to be in May but cancelled due to bad weather. It is rescheduled for mid July but I wrote down mid May. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused anyone.

The Elk’s Club Pikemasters Kids Fishing Day to be held on Saturday July 31st is correct. As this is the time though the location is either at Barry’s Landing or Horseshoe Bend has not yet been established. Hopefully there will be some news of this at the meeting.

Don’t forget the club BBQ this July 4th right after the Laurel 4th of July parade Someone will be pulling their boat in the parade with our banner on it to promote the clubs. Then after the parade we will be going to Tom Reiters place on the River Road to have the BBQ. Those of you who wish to attend the BBQ are asked to bring a dish of salad, dessert or other favorite dish that would go along with the chicken we are going to BBQ. Clay who is running this event will be able to give you more information for the meeting.

I hope the tournament at Fort Peck went well this year because I and my partner Joe Stenglein were unable to be there to help out. We were out of town working and lost a lot of days due to rain and had to work to get caught up. Bob Dolly, our Vice President held last month’s meeting and will probably have to run the next two meetings as well. Thanks Bob for your help. Tournament results should be at the meeting and I will have a brief on it in next month’s newsletter.
