Club doing outdoor shows
February, 2005
The Montana Outdoor Hunting & Fishing Show this last weekend was again a lot of fun. Thanks to those of you that came down and shot the breeze with us and joined in on the raffle. We signed up a couple of new members, sold some ads for the magazine and web page. As always we raffled off two rod and reel combos. After all expences we even made a few bucks, and we should have a final report at the meeting. Next show will be Feb. 4,5 & 6 in Great Falls. We will also be doing the MORE Show in March because we were able to get a huge discount for the cost of the booth. Looks like we will be doing a half hour presentation on how to fillet a pike and Chef Vinnie will be able to fry some fish up for people to taste.
By the time you get this newsletter the banquet will have come and gone. For those of you that were able to attend the banquet, I hope that you had a great time. According to the early tally we have grown in attendance, more prizes and a list of guest speakers that will surely hold your attention. We should be able to have a final report by this meeting, so don’t miss it.
We were able to make a deal with the people at Shipton's on some extra stock of fishing reels that they had and wanted to get rid of. So we bought a bunch of Shimano reels to use for our raffles at the outdoor shows and the banquet. We have numerous reels ranging in price from fifty bucks to eighty bucks that will be available to the membership at half price. So if you need an extra reel for that special presentation, come to the meeting and get a look at the goods. Also if you know of somebody else that needs on, bring them to the meeting.
Since we’ve talked about the fish hatchery dilemma there has been some interesting developments up at the legislature. Tom Reiter who has been keeping up on the latest will be going to Helena to let them now our requests on this situation. We will probably get an earfull when Tom will be able to give us an update at the meeting, hope it’s good news.
Clay Buckmiller would like to get some of your old pictures of past events so that he can put together a collage to display at future events. This would be a nice display board to have so that other people who attend our functions will see the good time we have and maybe they will want to become a part of it. So if you can spare a couple of photos it would be greatly appreciated.
