Getting ready for first launch
April, 2005
Spring has sprung, I’ll bet you're itchin to get out on the water since we’ve been having some nice weather. Don’t forget to get that boat and trailer serviced before you go out and end up with problems due to a simple maintenance check up. You can reach Tom Reiter at 628-7010 or Greg Heil at 245-0132 to get you in shape for the season.
I’d like to thank all of those that came down and helped out at the MORE Show this year. The filleting demonstration by Bob Dolly went very well and Chef Vince fried up some fillets with three different recipes, and boy did it taste good. The crowd really enjoyed the demonstration and the fish. After all expenses were paid we made $436, which will go to Camp Make-A-Dream. We gave away one of our Pikemasters bait cast rods with a Shimano reel and a Fenwick spin cast combo as well for the raffle. People really liked that rod with our logo on it. This year our booth display looked different also, Hank Meyers loaned us his Tiger Muskie, Paul Meyers brought down his pike table mount and Bob Dollys pike that won largest fish at the Hell Creek tournament last year, thanks guys. Thanks also to the Rent-A-Center on Grand Ave. for providing us with a camera, recorder and a big screen TV so everyone could see the blade action of Samari Bob.
One thing that we are going to have to decide on is if we are going to combine our Keyhole tournament with the Gillette Walleye club who also has a tournament in Sept. At last years tournament one of their past presidents fished it and came up with the idea. We’ll recap old news and bring up any new news then take a vote, so try to attend to give us your thoughts and votes.
We will be having a couple of fish mounts at the meeting that we can look at to see if we want one for the club. Clay Buckmiller will be bringing a coat with our logo on it and if anybody would like to order one he can help you with that.
Those of you that have been selling the Cystic Fibrosis four-wheeler raffle tickets, Tim Miles would like you to turn in any sold ticket stubs and monies collected. If you can’t make it to the meeting call mme at 656-4079 and I’ll pick them up.
Tom Reiter will put on a short seminar on sonar after the meeting. He will have his X-15 and the new LCX102c color unit on display. He tells me we’ve got to see the color unit in the night mode, the colors are really bright.
