PikeMasters president
Bob Rausch
Fifth annual PikeMasters Tourney
set for Fort Peck

June, 2005

Here we are just about to the start of summer and we’re only a half an inch behind our normal precipitation, quit a change from the past several years. Although the Ft. Peck drainage didn’t get very much of the snow and rain, the lake should be in good shape for the tournament, reports are that the fish are biting well. Yellowtail, Toungue River and Cooney Res. Are all at full pool and as soon as the dirt settles should provide some good fishing.

Our 5th Annual Pikemasters Public Tournament at Hell Creek Marina on June 25, 26 is only a few weeks away, so get your team entered as soon as possible so we know what to expect. I hear we got a team entered from, I believe, Colorado, the entry form was from our web site. Tom Reiter has been up north a couple of times this past month doing some P. R. with some of the head walleye people to clear up some misinformation they have heard about us. Those gentleman now understand where we are coming from and are interested in working together with some problems they are experiencing at Fresno Res. That same problem has been recognized at Yellowtail Res. and it’s a lack of forage fish to support the fishery. Ken Frazer will be coming to next months meeting to explain more in detail what has happened, and maybe we can provide some solutions to help these two lakes out. Don’t forget to pick up one or more of those raffle tickets for the color fish finder for $10.00, a maximum of only 100 tickets will be sold.

Becky Heil tells me that everything is just about ready for the Kids Fishing Day this June 4th, we will be starting at 9am till 3pm at Laural Pond. We will be picking up the fishing rods F&G loaned to us and buying the kids prizes this coming Tuesday and will meet down at Gregs shop located at 2061/2 Prickett Ln. Wed. June 1st to make sure everything is in order. Come on down to Gregs Weds. evening to shoot the breeze with us and get things organized.

Nominations for officers are as follows; Pres. – Tom Reiter and Bob Rausch, Vice-Pres. – Clay Buckmiller, Sec./Treas. – Joe Stenglein. We will be accepting nominations again at this meeting, so come and support your club and vote.

We’ve all been waiting for the Pikemasters fishing poles with our logo on them but the manufacturer has been experiencing overwhelming orders to sell his Muskie rods and is behind on getting ours put together. The only thing I can say is be patient and we will let you know as soon as they become available. Thank you for your patients.

We will have a meeting in July, then take one month off till Sept. to get ready for the Keyhole Tournament. Also next month Tom Reiter will be giving us a report on fishing Fresno Res. and how to fish it. Our new officers will also be appointed for the next two years.
