sixth Kids Day at Laurel Pond The Montana PikeMasters held their fifth annual Kids Day on June 3, 2005 at Laurel Pond with the help of a lot of sponsors, including major sponsorship by Wal-Mart. The Kids Days keep getting bigger with 150 youngsters and perhaps 100 adults in attendance. Fishing was very good, with much of the credit for that going to Ken Frazer and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks hatchery personnel who stocked the pond with catchable rainbow trout and a good number of big cutthroat trout brood stock they were retiring. PikeMasters members manned the grills, flipped the burgers, passed out buns, beans, chips and beverages and offered advice on how to keep them from blowing off plates as a healthy wind was blowing. Becky Heil led the way in organizing the day with a kids casting contest and plenty of prizes to be given away. For a look at the long list of sponsors and some photos from Kids Day, just go to 2006 Kids Day Photo Gallery Many thanks to all who made this day a great success.
fifth Kids Day at Laurel Pond The Montana PikeMasters held their fifth annual Kids Day on June 4, 2005 at Laurel Pond. It's an understatement to say a god time was had by all. Youngsters, parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts stretched out along the banks to try their luck for rainbow trout, with PikeMasters members working along the line to help anyone in need of instant casting instruction, baiting, fish-measuring or gear repair. Ramrodded by Becky Heil, the Kids Day went smoothly with a long list of sponsors including Meadow Green Lawn Service, TNT Spring and Suspension, Selby's Essco, Fisher Construction, Hi Tech Construction, Eagle Claw, Pepsi, Holiday Store at Shiloh and Grand, Coca Cola, NAPA, Abba Graphics, Windmill Club, Laurel Ace Hardware and Party Pig Catering. Party Pig Catering provided the hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, chips and beverages for lunch for everyone. A Kids Casting Contest was held. And many, many trout were caught. Montana PikeMasters also supports other kids fishing days held in the Billings area, including the Billings YMCA Kids Fishing Day at Riverfront Park, joining other fishing clubs in the area to help with this good cause.
