Laurel fisherman Tom Reiter had quite a surprise while fishing the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's walleye tournament on Fort Peck Reservoir. He snagged a giant paddlefish -- maybe even a new state record. Unfortunately, he didn't have a tape measure. He didn't have a scale. But, worst of all, he didn't have a paddlefish tag, so he had to release it right away after using one of his sandals to measure the fish at exactly 6.5 sandals long. It turned out to be longer than the existing state record of 142.5 pounds. Read all about it in Mark Henckel's Billings Gazette column.
